This privacy policy covers ScrollWiki, an independent Wikipedia reader operated by Ryan Ussery, and its website.

Reading data stays on your device

The app stores your selected interests, likes, saves, reading history and recommendation preferences locally. Article opens, approximate visible time, completion and feedback help rank recommendations. These signals are not eye tracking or a measurement of comprehension.

No account is required. We do not run a reading analytics backend, show ads, sell reading activity or track you across apps. This release does not synchronize your library through iCloud. Apple device backups may include app data according to your settings.

Requests to other services

Loading content sends article and image requests, your IP address and ordinary connection information to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons. Their handling is covered by the Wikimedia privacy policy. Opening external links sends requests to those websites. Apple operates the App Store and its related services.

This website is hosted through OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure. Hosting providers process connection information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver and protect the site. We have not added advertising, analytics scripts, tracking pixels or newsletter forms.

What is retained

The app retains up to 2,000 recent interaction events. Learned preferences remain until reset. Saved articles remain until removed. Incidental article and image caches are size-limited and may be evicted. Saved reading content is stored separately.

Reset and deletion

• Clear reading history in Settings to remove history and event records.
• Reset personalization to remove learned interests, likes, hidden articles and history. Chosen topics and saved articles remain.
• Remove individual articles from Saved to delete their saved reading records.
• Clear downloaded article cache separately in Settings.
• Delete the app to remove its local library. Apple backup copies are managed through your Apple settings.

Support and policy changes

Contact info@scrollwiki.com for help. Support email is forwarded by Porkbun to our iCloud inbox. Messages you choose to send are used to answer your request. Those providers process messages under their own privacy policies. Avoid sending sensitive personal information or your full reading history.

We will update this page and its date when the policy changes. A change to data collection or synchronization will be explained before it is introduced.
